The National Honor Society (NHS) is one of the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding high school students who demonstrate excellence in Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Membership is both an honor and a responsibility, as students are expected to uphold these four pillars in their daily lives while making a positive impact on their school and community.
Our NHS chapter is committed to developing servant leaders who strive for academic excellence, lead with integrity, serve others with compassion, and model strong moral character. Through service projects, leadership opportunities, community partnerships, and school involvement, members grow as leaders while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
As members of the National Honor Society, we believe that true leadership is demonstrated through service. Together, we encourage one another to pursue excellence, inspire positive change, and leave a lasting legacy within our school and community. This version is polished for a school website and aligns well with a faith-based school while remaining consistent with the National Honor Society's mission.
Student Pledge of Intention
I understand that membership in the National Honor Society is both an honor and a responsibility. As a student at University Christian School, I recognize that the pursuit of Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character should reflect not only the standards of the National Honor Society but also my commitment to honor Christ in the way I learn, lead, serve, and live.
As an applicant, I accept responsibility for submitting all required materials by the established deadlines, including confirming that all requested recommendation forms have been submitted on my behalf. I understand that completing and submitting all required materials does not guarantee selection for membership in the National Honor Society.
If selected for membership, I pledge to uphold the Four Pillars of the National Honor Society and to represent University Christian School in a manner that reflects Christ-centered character, integrity, humility, and a heart for serving others.
As a member, I commit to:
-
Scholarship: Pursue academic excellence with diligence and integrity, using the abilities and opportunities God has given me to honor Him.
-
Leadership: Lead by example with humility, responsibility, courage, and a willingness to encourage and positively influence others.
-
Service: Serve others with compassion and a willing heart, completing a minimum of 15 approved service hours each year through activities sponsored or sanctioned by the National Honor Society.
-
Character: Demonstrate honesty, respect, integrity, accountability, and Christ-like conduct both at school and in the community.
-
Participation: Attend all required NHS meetings unless an absence has been approved through prior email notification and actively participate in the responsibilities and activities of the chapter.
-
Membership: Pay all required NHS dues by the established deadline and remain a member in good standing.
I understand that National Honor Society membership is an ongoing commitment rather than simply an achievement or recognition. My ability to remain a member in good standing, include National Honor Society membership on college applications, and receive NHS recognition at graduation is dependent upon my continued fulfillment of these responsibilities.
By signing this pledge, I commit to represent the National Honor Society and University Christian School with excellence and to strive to honor Christ through my Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character.
